Can someone please give me advice on buying a DVD player?

I want a DVD player just to watch movies. I have a lot of movies on VHS, so I need to either buy a combo DVD-VHS player, or buy just a DVD player to hook up to my TV along with my current VHS. I have not been impressed by the reviews on the combo sets. How hard is it to hook up a DVD player along with a separate VHS? What do I look for in purchasing a DVD player? I do not have a digital TV, but we do have a satellite dish. My TV is several years old with an S-video jack. I have researched online but am confused by all the technical lingo. Can someone please help?

Just go to Walmart- Look around. You will find a great one there for cheap!
